School: Mpisi Primary School
Jabulani partnered with HERD and Mpisi Primary School to help develop and grow the school’s gardens, sustainability projects and library and computer room while also focusing on sharing awareness and knowledge about elephant conservation through different lessons and art projects.
The school is in need of basic essentials such as pens, rulers, art supplies, class supplies, library books, computers and other equipment.
Jabulani also supports Hlokomela Clinic, an award-winning HIV and AIDS educational and treatment programme centre, that was initially built to support the local farming community. They have expanded to assist surrounding communities too, also helping seasonal workers and migrants from other countries such as Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and elsewhere in Southern Africa. Guests that would like to donate goods to Hlokomela, please let us know and we can pre-purchase products to take on a visit to the clinic or to drop off on our guests’ behalf. Guests are also welcome to leave old clothes behind that can be donated to the clinic.
We believe that looking after our planet has many sides to it, including managing our human consumption and production. That’s why we believe in using fresh seasonal ingredients in our kitchen as much as possible to limit our dependence on external fresh produce suppliers. We do this by growing our own produce onsite with our innovative aquaponics system that combines aquaculture and hydroponics.
We built Jabulani on the foundation of rescuing and reintroducing orphaned elephants to new herds. This can be tricky, as elephants decide whether they accept a new elephant to their herd. However, over the past 20 years, we’ve successfully reintroduced orphaned elephants into new herds.
